Lumilex Ltd. was established in 1998.
Formerly known as Dalmark Technologies, the company started an ambitious project called ARMS (Active Road Marking Systems).
For details on the ARMS project check this link.
ARMS required LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology installed in raised pavement markers (also known as "Cat Eyes" or "Road Studs"). This is a most demanding environment for en electronic circuit: the temperature changes, humidity, vibration, UV and other factors caused many pioneers of this technology to fail.
Many designers consider the LED as a lamp that emits light when a voltage is applied. When the first real mass application of LED started, as replacement of
traffic light bulbs for example, the designers learned how to work with a LED in the harsh outdoor environment. A large matrix of several hundreds of LED raised further complications: heat, which is shortening the mythological 100,000 hours life expectancy of the LED.
The LED technology made giant steps during the last decade and more and more applications are developed, where the LED allows solutions not possible with conventional light sources. LED
technology is moving fast to replace even regular illumination.
We succeeded to develop electronic circuits with temperature compensated current sources at low cost. These modules and our technology allow for fast response to the market needs.
During 2000-2001, the company developed a by-product related to road marking: a rechargeable, Temporary Road Marking unit. It was designed as an alternative for the dangerous and costly magnesium flares. This very successful product opened the law enforcement market and since the introduction of this product, numerous other developments resulted in products sold all over the world to Police Departments and Emergency Services.
In 2002 Dalmark Technologies was split in two separate companies: Dalmark Traffic Systems Ltd., which continues the ARMS project and Lumilex Ltd., profiled on the defense market.
The company's activity is market oriented. The R&D team is in constant contact with the Police Department and special police or military units. Their experience combined with our R&D results in numerous projects, which provide solutions to real problems, often life saving.
While some of these products remain classified, others reach the production line and are marketed by an increasing world wide distributor network.
Lumilex is able to provide solutions for small projects as well as mass production. We do not compromise on the quality and the same IPC-610C approved assembly line of military applications is producing all the other products. Even a simple "Sun Visor LED Strobe" manufactured for occasional use passes the same aging test of the electronic circuit and the quality control as a military product.
Innovation is the key word to describe Lumilex. Many systems and products we developed during the years provide a valuable source of information for numerous companies all over the world. Other products are manufactured under license by well-known companies and sold under OEM agreements.
Lumilex, as an R&D company, spends most of the efforts to remain the leader in innovation by applying the latest technology in the most extreme and challenging applications. |
